2 Matters arising

3 Upcoming moving & handling course
  This 4 hour course will take place later this year. Jerry has to firstly get dates from the Welsh Ambulance Trust trainer, Mike Jones, then see which of those dates tallies with days when room 703 is available. Once that's achieved he'll contact all responders to seek their preferences.
   
4 New rota
Following on from the resignations of a couple of volunteers and the long-term absence of others it was felt necessary that we re-jig the rota. It was decided that those members of staff who work a basic 9-5 or 8-4 working day should populate the rota with others such as porters who may not be available for the same shifts every week, or students, acting as reserves and infilling the gaps as and when they occurred. As is currently the case, Jerry will publicise the gaps and keep the rota up to date when volunteers contact him and offer to cover. The new rota will start Wednesday 18 June 2008.
   
5 Communication
  It was agreed that volunteers should contact one another at the start of their period of cover. In that way any potential problems will be spotted early and remedial action can be taken. It was agreed that there was no need to contact the switchboard at the start of each shift.
   
6 Any other business
 
  1. Jerry reported that the safety office will fund the FR scheme in future from their existing budget. This should mean that over the next few years extra kits should become available and perhaps DECT phones provided for all responders.
  2. Jerry will look into the possibility of 'group pickup' for FR DECT phones and, if it's technically possible, explore any advantages that could bring. ACTION: JERRY
  3. Responders were reminded that if they wanted to spend an evening with an ambulance crew they should contact Richard Gronow (Neath) or Huw Phillips (Ammanford) directly.
7 Date of next meeting
  Monday 4 August 2008 at 1pm in room 703. NOTE: No meeting in September as Jerry will be on holiday.
