Present: Jerry, David, Katrina, Ian, Mark, Diane, Iain
Apologies: Jane, Chris
| 1 | Minutes of August meeting (2 February 2009) | |
| Accepted without amendments or changes. | ||
| 2 | Matters arising | |
| 2.1 | Phone comms: Still a problem, see below. | |
| 2.2 | Out of date and missing items: Library bag checked in March training session and replacements ordered. Still awaiting delivery. | |
| 2.3 | Photos: Kevin Daniel has agreed to supply these. Still waiting for them from ACU. | |
| 2.4 | Report pro-forma page: This has been created and can be accessed via Home page>Reference Section>Reports> Report a new call to Jerry. The password is the same as usual. | |
| 2.5 | Meeting FRs and paramedics at building entrances: Pete Deacon has confirmed that the telephonists have been instructed to ask someone to go to the main entrance of the building to guide in the FRs and paramedics to a casualty. | |
| 2.6 | Health Fayre: Covered later. | |
| 2.7 | Pulse Oximeter: Covered later. | |
| 3 | Calls received | |
|
Only 2 calls since the February meeting! (1) Ambulance control have been instructed not to call FRs to incidents at the Sketty Lane sports facilities or the Wales National Pool - unless there will be an unusually long delay in getting an ambulance to the site. (2)FRs must stay on the campus when on call. If they have to leave they should arrange stand-by cover. Reiterated the need to make phone contact between RFs at the start of each shift. |
||
| 4 | Phone Comms | |
| The problems still exist and potentially have more serious consequences now that control are sending automatic texts - presumably to suit the GPS phones already in use. This development is dangerous for us until we get such a phone. In the meantime, when signing on, we must request a manual phone call after the automatic text message has been sent. . | ||
| 5 | Health Fayre | |
| Thanks to all for agreeing to man the stand on the 6th and 7th May. Jerry will produce some home-grown hand-outs and other generic glossy handouts have been requested from the ambulance HQ in Cockett. Action: Jerry. If you have any ideas as to how we can make our stand more attractive and inviting please let Jerry know. The demonstrations we will give will be CPR procedure only - not our new "on scene protocol". | ||
| 6 | Any other business | |
| 6.1 | Tony's card has an expiry date - and seems to be the only one in the team. It's being replaced with a new card. | |
| 6.2 | New volunteers are awaiting training; 7 in the university and 4 from the Pennard team. Jerry trying to sort out a training dates. One complication: the Pennard volunteers probably won't be available on week days. | |
| 6.3 | One of the new pulse oximeters was passed around and tried out. All agreed that this is a welcome development. Instructions as to how to use it can be found at Home page>Reference Section>Initial actions on Scene> Using the pulse oximeter. | |
| 6.4 | Ian asked for a button to be made available on the website to notify Jerry about upcoming holidays. Action: Jerry | |
